First off the disclaimer.  I write these blog posts not on behalf of the company I work for but because I am on a mission to discover and showcase the best marketing ideas.  Some of them I hope you’ll find interesting and you may even pick up an idea to use.    Recently I’ve broadened the scope of this blog.  As media continued to mesh, it seemed to me that the ideas ought to cross over as well.  So, if it’s about media, digital or traditional, or marketing of any product on any level, as long as it’s special, you can find it here.  The thoughts are my own, as is the context.  Feel free to comment.

I grew up professionally in the local television business.  Writing, producing and editing marketing spots, programs and short segments is the way I made my living up until the early part of this century.  That’s when new media and how it impacts marketing came into view.  It excites me and throws off so many ideas for new marketing opportunities.  Today I oversee marketing, programming, public relations and interactive media for the Journal Broadcast Group.

I’m based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  It’s not where I was born, but Milwaukee is my adopted hometown.  You see, I’ve moved here twice.  Something special about Milwaukee and Wisconsin in my view.

My take on media today is that good, creative content can still provide local viewers, listeners and users with information and entertainment about their neighborhoods, interests and events.  With digital media, users have the power to get involved and create their own content.  From Web sites, social media and mobile, there’s no stopping the engagement power in the hands of people today.  It’s great.

This is not the site for tech reviews although you may find me raving about a gadget that is making my life easier.  This site will be successful if it’s about you, the people reading, creating and selling winning ideas.  Big and small, I’m looking to shine a bright light on the best.  Since nobody can see everything that’s being developed I’m counting on your suggestions for content ideas.

Today, I’m trying the new stuff.  I’m always looking for ways to link traditional media with the Web and mobile devices.  Let’s find those answers together.
